Sometime in the future……So here’s the pitch.we make a show about ordinary people building stuff or laying concrete slabs and then standing around watching it dry.Are you serious…..Yeah believe me, they will love it.See the catch is we add emotion to the mix and viewers develop a love , hate relationship with the ordinary folk elevating them to superstar status.Damm straight they will write about it all over that new internet thing thats just starting up.Just think of it no more booze/drug filled starlets to deal with whinging and moaning and costing lots of money. Hell when that 3D thing gets better we will just render them in.

Lost and Found
A few things.I am writing this post on my new MacBook Pro and very nice it is too.The laptop that is.I needed a laptop for my live performances as well as my sound design work.It makes an excellent friend for my studio iMac.I have pimped it with an ultra sd card for storage which beats a usb drive for speed.You can pick these up at good camera shops. Plus a magic mouse.What else.Well i finished doing some presets for Rob Papens PUNCH instrument and these are included in the instruments presets.I will be designing a pack of 3rd party presets for this instrument as well so stay tuned for that at Voltage Disciple.Lost but now found is VOLT100A a free Ableton LIVE pack which is available for download at Voltage Disciple.This pack is based around a mysterious old synth which we dusted off and sampled , cut up and tortured to give you a glitch type drumrack at 96kHz.Go get it at Voltage Disciple, its free did i mention.
We have also just purchased Aalto from Madrona Labs.A Buchla type vst/au for Mac and now Windows.We have already started programming presets for an upcoming pack so stay tuned for that as well.This synth is extraordinary and well worth being in our arsenal as well as yours if your keen on unique instruments as we are.

The Remix as Social Experiment
Bands regularly remix themselves to keep their fur, feathers, scales, or other skin coverings in good condition. This activity – known as personal remixing, preening, or auto-remixing – promotes hygiene. Dead skin and foreign objects such as insects, ectoparasites, and leaves, dirt and twigs, are some of the items typically removed.
Many bands remix each other, an activity known as social remixing, mutual remixing, or allo-remixing. Items removed during social remixing are identical to those removed by personal remixing. Social remixing also takes the form of stroking, scratching, and massaging.
Bands provide perhaps the best example of this activity. Musicologists have called remixing the social cement of the band world. The trust and bonding it builds is critical to group cooperation. Among bands, social remixing plays an important role in establishing and maintaining alliances and dominance hierarchies, for building coalitions, for reconciliation after conflicts, and is a resource that is exchanged for other resources, like food and sex. Bands remix socially in moments of boredom as well, and the act has been shown to reduce tension and stress. It is often associated with observed periods of relaxed behaviour, and bands have been known to fall asleep while receiving remixing.
Results of a research shows that male bands will remix female bands in order to get sex. The study found that a female band has a greater likelihood to engage in sexual activity with a male band if he had recently remixed her, compared to males who had not remixed her.
Other bands remix socially as well. These include rock folk ,jazz and electronic.
This has been an experiment where the words animals,primates have been replaced by the word band and grooming replaced by the word remixing. ha!

Pimp My DrumMachine
Volt90 is an Ableton Live drumrack pack in our VOLT series which includes five new drumrack instruments based on 24bit/96kHz samples from a modified Roland CR8000 drum machine.Each drum sound in the racks includes its own EQ and Limiter and macro controls which mimic the modified controls added to the original machine to let the user add snap ,tuning, attack, decay and other changes to each drum sound..This gives you a unique representation of a modified rare and classic drum machine under the control of Ableton Live.The pack includes 50 midi clips,5 drumracks,5 Live sets, grooves as well as a folder containing all the samples used in the pack at 24bit/96kHz.This enables the user to build their own drumracks or modify the sounds even further.These samples are unavailable anywhere else.Our good friend Woody let us sample the instrument before it was passed on to a new owner. Each drumrack also has macro controls for subtle reverb, drive and heavy NYC compression.The kick drums have had there high and low components EQ,d separately to allow the user to increase or decrease the amount of click in each of the sounds.Cost $10 AUS
